i need help!!!!!A.S.A.P. my '98 jeep cherokee makes the most horrible noise when i turn the a/c on my dad said that it probably needs a new a/c belt is that true and if it is can i change it by myself ?

Don't use A/C till you check this asap. There may only be one belt so take a look at it and if more - all of them. Are they tight enough? Any recent A/C work or charging of it? A/C compressor is a big load on the belt and if something is wrong with the compressor, the charge, the belt might not handle it new or not. Yes you can change them yourself depending on your abilities and tools but find out if it's overloaded now, T
