99 corolla power window problems Sign In

I was rolling my driver door window up and it stopped half way. I could not get it to go down or up. After messing the button for a while and hitting the panel a few times I got it to go all the way down, but not back up. After driving on the freeway for about 10 minutes I got it to go about half way up and about every five minutes after that it would go up another few inches. I have not had any problems since then although I have not rolled it down more than a few inches since I don't want it getting suck down again. I think it is the window regulator or motor. Any advise?

Definitely sounds like a faulty window motor.

any idea on cost of one or how hard it would be to change myself vs. cost of paying someone else?

Autozone has them for about $70.00 average + tax

As far as installation, some window motors are riveted on...meaning the old rivets have to be cutoff or drilled out and new motor riveted in.
Some are bolted in and are much easier to replace.
I'm not sure how Toyota's are mounted.

Idea...stop at autozone and look at a Haynes repair manual...see how its mounted first then decide if you want to tackle it.
Manuals cost approx.$16.00 + tax.
