99 chevy suburban 2500 ABS pulsing.

I replaced the right front speed sensor cause I pulled the wires out of the old one accidentally when I was installing a new rotor. Now the ABS unit is pulsing when i almost come to a stop, with no Anti lock light on. If I unplug the new sensor it goes away, but the light comes on. I drove this for about a month with the wire broke and the light on, Do I need to clean a code out of the computer?? If it still had a code I would think the light would still be on. This was a GM part not a parts store part.

The sensor is not reading correctly at lower speeds and you need to find out why. It could be a damaged/defective sensor or bearing.

sensor is new, so my feeling would be the bearing assembly. kinda strange how it worked fine before I broke the original sensor.

I'm not sure what you're working on but the sensor I'm familiar with is part of the bearing and sold all as one piece.

This sensor is removable. I does not come with the bearing/hub assembly. Is there a way I can test this sensor??

There could be an issue with the wiring, a defective sensor or a wheel bearing issue. It needs to be troubleshooted more.

You'll need a scan tool that can look at the wheel speed sensor PID in the ABS controller. Unplugging the sensor disables the whole system, so you don't even know if that particular sensor or circuit is the cause of your problem.
VR sensors like those usually don't produce enough voltage for the controller to determine wheel speed until your doing around 3 mph. If the sensor wasn't producing a signal or there was a circuit problem, you would have a trouble code. More than likely you have some sort of air gap problem or tone wheel issue.
You can watch the AC voltage from the sensor using a volt meter, but it is better to use a scope to view its waveform and compare it to the other sensors.

I think it's a given that the sensor is reading erratically. The question is the cause.
