Parked in the driveway about 6 months ago, was at the point where the battery would only hold a charge for 1 day, as long as you drove every day.
We sold the van and now it won't start, it is getting gas, but no spark I don't think. Why would it just loose spark just from sitting...
If I check at the valve at the intake, it gets gas and if it was gas, would fire at least.
Checked and no spark, I think the passlock disables the coil? Could the battery being dead for soo long screw up the passlock?
I used a scanner and comes up with nothing. All fuses and relays are good.
Does anybody know how to reset passlock on this 99 montana. My 2000 Grand Am just needed to do the "ON" for 10 minute intervals, 3 times, does not work.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'm not sure where your getting your information but you appear to be assuming a lot of things.
Have you used a spark tester to test for spark?
Have you tested the fuel pressure using a fuel pressure gauge?
Does it have a security light on or flashing?

screwdriver in spark plug wire is a tester, there is NO spark at all. Security light will only come on at first you turn the key to "ON"

If the security light is going back off, then you don't have a Passlock problem
You now need to
1)Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.
2)Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.
Once you have determined if any of these other functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Would the fuel filter clog up just sitting there?
I know my grand am a couple times wouldn't start and all it was was the filter but I was driving that car at the time.

I can email you one.....just email me your email address.You have the 3.4L engine?No spark......you should have a fuse for the electronic ignition.It should be located in your under hood accessory wiring junction block.It should be marked elek ign...and it should be 10 or 15 amp fuse....I think it is 10 amp.This feeds the ignition module on a pink wire.Make sure fuse is not blown and that you have the 12 volts with key in on position.You have no spark on all plugs?

Since you still haven't checked for injector pulse or fuel pressure, you could easily have a crank sensor problem but your not going to know unless you check the other 2 functions.

yes, 3.4L
just checked and ALL fuses are good and there is 12V with key ON. No spark on ALL plugs...

Just sent you ignition wiring diagram.Check for battery voltage at module on pink wire(b).hook positive multimeter lead to pink wire and negative lead of meter to the black/white wire (A)ground for module and turn key to on position and see if you have battery voltage on meter.If power and ground to module are good then turn off ignition and disconnect the two wire 7x crankshaftposition sensor connector(purple and yellow wires)from the ignition module and check resistance on these wires.should be between 800-1200 ohms.Next remove coil and take a test light and place across the two terminals and crank engine and see if the test light flashes.If crankshaft position sensor is good and module has good power and ground then bad ignition module.Some auto parts stores can test the dis modules.Take to store and have tested.

is the ICM located on right kickpanel, about 4"x6" box??
So, many like bcm, pcm,icm, etc... lol

the icm is located under the 3 coil packs.

the coils are attached with screws.remove the screws and then remove coils.To remove module remove all electrical connectors and screws and mark plug wires and remove then remove coils and then module.

ok, power to ICM but no resistance on purple and yellow wire.
Should I still take off coils? If so, which 2 terminals are you talking about?
Sorry, I feel like a pain to you...

when you remove a coil pack from ignition module you will see the 2 terminals.The coil lifts off the terminals.The module has male terminals and coil female.are you using a digital or analog?bsttery good?test on a resistor or relay winding.if no resistance than possible open/bad connection or bad 7x crankshaft position sensor.You did check with no power to circuit and connector disconnected?remove a coil and take a test light across the 2 terminals and crank engine and see if test light flashes.

I have both digital and analog but using digital multimeter.
Yes connector disconnected.
Test light does flash when turned over...

if test light flashes then crankshaft position sensor and ignition module are working.Make sure it flashes on all three coil packs.If it does then buy a inexpensive spark tester from auto parts store and then disconnect one plug wire from a coil pack and hook spark tester up to plug wire and then run a jumper to negative battery terminal or hook to a good known ground and crank engine and see if good spark.Now reconnect plug wire and do this on companion cylinder and test for spark.Do this on all cylinders and check for spark.Spark should be crisp blue spark and continious.

ok, now I just tried again and now once I turn on key, test light lights up right away on the 2 contacts and does flash when turning over...
