99 Ford Escort Zx2 wont run no more

I have a 1999 Ford Escort Zx2, 2.0l with about 145,000 miles on it. Well out of my own stupidity me and my buddy were messing around burnin tires and I held a burnout for about 15 seconds then started goin. A couple seconds later my check engine light comes on then about 2 seconds after that it starts puttering and cuts off goin down the road. I tried crankin it and it wouldn't start, it was turning over but wouldn run. Well we pushed it back to his house and let it cool for about 2 hours then went to try and crank it again and it sounds like it wants to run and occasionally will start up for about 5 seconds then cut back off. I dont know if it could be a blown head gasket or maybe the timing or something im clueless.

Yup sounds like this maybe an expensive lesson....
1st thing you need to do is check for spark & fuel pressure, see what's missing. Pull the timing cover forward so you can see the cam gear & have some one crank to see if the gear is spinning, maybe you stripped or broke the timing belt. Find the fuel inertia switch in back (cross your fingers & hope you tripped it) and see if the red button is popped up.....If it is, reset it.

I bet it's the Inertia switch like Sidom suggested.

Well i did all that and it all seems fine. The switch wasn't popped, the timing belt is fine and everything is spinnin. Its got spark and fuel pressure. Im completly baffled on whats wrong. It keeps startin every now and then and runnin for like 2 seconds but really just more of a putter.

Atlantis; Pull the spark plugs and take a look. Are they wet with fuel? Check cam timing. Your timing belt may have 'jumped'. All it takes is one tooth. For future notice, don't let these guys entice you into abusing your car. Timing belt driven engines are much more 'fragile'. I see these kids winding out thier rice burners everyday. They have no clue the damage that may happen if that belt breaks. Race engines are built to withstand high revolutions. And, even they, sometimes don't survive. I'm sure one of the guys can give you a diagram showing timing marks if you need it.

Well uncle brung a computer over and plugged it up and found out timing jumped and it bent a valve.

That's a bit hard to believe that you have bent valves since that is not an interference engine and it does not bend valves when the belt breaks.
