I have a 99 dodge caravan. It will not start. Battery is fine. Connections as far as I can tell fine. Ok It was doing this and I found that if I move the shifter sometimes it will start. But today nothing. I dont Know whats wrg. I turn key and it clicks and something is turning but not starting. Any one know anything???? THE PROBLEM IS NOT: the battery, the altenator, solenoid or the starter all tested fine. It will start but cranks foroever 1st. Once started if u shut it off and try again it will restart right away once cooled it cranks and cranks. For the life of me I cant figure what else it could be. Also does advanced test the battery with a load on it? If not is it possible it may be Battery after all? Please help thks.

How old is the battery? 3 years + is getting old not matter what they say.

Connections: They have to be good at the engine side too not just the battery.

Not sure what the whole story is with this but if it cranks too long and finally starts that's usually a fuel pressure problem. It may be leaking down too much too fast.

Try just leaving the in run position for a short while - you may even hear fuel pump pressure up and shut down and it should start right away. If you can't hear the pump shut off a fuel pressure test is indicated.

Just some things to check out for now - Good luck, T

Try turning the key to the run position(do not try to start, just turn to the dash lights ome on) and off 3 or 4 times. Then try to start it. If it starts quickly after that, the fuel pump is getting weak. If it does not crank over at all,(makes no starting noise) look to the neutral safety switch.

Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
