99 chev tahoe with the 5.7 V8 with 180,000 miles. single in - dual out Flowmaster muffler for exhaust With our lovely MN winters and tons of road salt, both exhaust pipes rusted out and cracked/broke about 2 inches from the muffler on the back side. Can I just have someone weld in a replacement piece in there or do I have to have them cut it off there and replace it with new pipe from the muffler on back for both sides and replaces the tips too. Just curious if I can do it the cheaper way or it needs to be cut off and replaced. Again it has 180,000 miles, so I'm looking for the cheaper route and not necesarilly best looks. Thanks!

well alot of this is going to depend if your doing it yourself or having it done. if your doing it yourself, im assuming you know how to weld already and i dont have to lecture you on the challenges of welding thin rusty metal. but if your taking it into a shop, they should be able to splice in a repair piece of pipe. if the rust is that bad, the patch will pretty much be similiar to putting a bandaid on a cut needing stitches. youll constantly be needing to add new patches until pretty much the whole section is a patch. compare the price of patch work, versus buying just the tailpipe section from flowmaster. itll probably be pretty close and if im right on pricing.....just go with the new tailpipes form the muffler back __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1

http://www.autozone.com/...artTypeResultSet.htm Just surfed out the original style stuff and except for OE converter this stuff isn't all that expensive new and LLT warr! I'd put it all back the way it was without the custom junk, T
