98 tahoe rear vibration around 40 to 50 mph but stops right away if i release gas pedal

Perhaps a U-Joint. Could be several other things too,

I agree Tom; likely a universal joint, but I haven’t had much luck lately diagnosing vibration issues. LOL
Sorry guest an inside joke.

If this is a joint going bad, have it looked after ASAP; a driveshaft running out of true, could cause rear transmission seal and slip yoke bushing to fail or the differential pinion seal and bearing to fail; just adding to the repair expense. We won’t even talk about the mess a driveshaft makes of things, when it decides to come off at 50mph.
