98 nissan 200sx oil leak!

ok so i have a 1998 nissan 200sx 1.6L manual with 132k miles, when we purchaced the car we put it on our driveway which is a relativly steep incline, there were random spots on the cement where the oil leaked. after we put plates on it we left it on the street and it does not leak oil when its just sitting on the street any ideas where the leak might be?

I had the same problem, same year, mileage. I removed the oil pan, cleaned it, and used high temp liquid gasket maker (wal mart $4) to seal it back on. Problem fixed

hm sweet ill try that too! we are going to do a quick few touch ups see what happens, worst fear is that it might be the rear main seal on the back of the engine, going to cross my fingers and hope its one of these cheap easy fixes, going to replace the valve gasket covers too

mine was the front side crankshaft seal, if there is oil on the belts you should do this first because it is easy and only $8 at checker. Just jack it up and remove front right wheel, remove belts bicycle chain style using a 1 and 1/16 ratchet to turn the crankshaft bolt while sliding the belts off, then put the rathcet on the crank bolt and wedge it under the tie rod and hit the starter for under 1 second, ta da, bolt removed. pull the pulley off. pull the old seal out with pliers, press the new one in, perfect!

this is a good bet because if it was the oil pan it would leak all the time, but if it was crank seal, it would only leak when or just after driving. regards.
