98 escort master cylinder- bench bleeding Sign In

i am replacing the master cylinder on my escort (no ABS, rear drum brakes), and read the instructions for bench bleeding. it tells me to plug the outlets and route the lines into the resevoir. OK pretty straightforward. but it only supplies two fittings and there are four ports on the master. two exit out the bottom, one on the passenger side, one out the top. i sealed the bottom two and bled the other two until i saw no more bubbles. then installed it and bled all four wheel cylinders. At this point the pedal felt fine, but once i started the car the pedal goes right to the floor, with almost no pressure. i am planning to pull it back out and immerse it in a container of brake fluid for bench bleeding (this is the only way i can think to easily bleed all four ports at once). can anybody give me any insight into this?
i have never seen a four port master, and can't figure out what all the ports are for. HELP!

Four ports, four wheels one for each wheel; they did away with the junction block and ran all four corners of the car right to the master. Even if you only got 75% of the air out of the master before you bolted it up to the car you should be able to get the rest of the air out of the system by bleeding it at the wheels. Yes it may take a lot of pumping and a lot of fluid; but it should bleed out.
With a helper try again; but this time have your helper pump the pedal up until it’s at its best and have him/her hold down on the pedal. Once there you open the bleeder screw; then close it when the fluid or air stops coming out under pressure.
Pump, hold, open screw, close screw and repeat as necessary; until no air comes out, only a solid steam of fluid.
Dan.
