98 corolla automatic irregular rattling

My 98 corolla automatic makes an irregular rattling sound when in drive. It is coming from the front underside.It kinda sounds like a nut is bouncing around.170k miles, well cared for by a friend who was the first owner.
Any ideas where to start?

Spot welds broken/rotted on heat shields on exhaust parts will cause quite a racket. Check for those first,
