A week ago the check engine light in my 99 Buick Regal came on and the engine was sputtering. Cylinder 2 was misfiring and there was almost no coolant in the car. I added coolant and was driving to the mechanic when the engine stopped sputtering, then the CEL went off. I drove 300 miles since but this morning I have the same problem but the coolant is ok. I just bought it used from a dealer 2 months ago, 114k, not supercharged. The plug wires look new so I assume the plugs are too but I don't know for sure. It's very hard to get at the plug for cylinder 2 in this car. What is the likely problem?

If you can't see any external coolant leaks it might be a blown head gasket. You will need to take it to a shop and have them do a cylinder leakdown test to see if this is the case. Have you noticed if the oil is milky? This is another sign.

I went to a mechanic and he said one injector was clogged and one was partially. He tried to charge me $900 to replace both and put in new plugs. I added Sea Foam and now everythings fine, the cel went off and the engine sounds good. Is it a hard job to replace or just take out and check the injectors myself? Or should I just let things be as they are and see if the CEL comes on again? Thanks.
