ok, so I have a little red light, right next to my fuel gauge that keeps going on. It looks like a little ink bottle with fluid waves at the bottom and an arrow pointing down. So common sense says that Im low on some sort of fluid, but if anyone can tell me what, that would be great!

I think that's your low coolant warning light. Some Pontiacs have a sensor in the burp tank, others are in the radiator. Wait until the engine is cool and add coolant as necessary in both the radiator and tank.

that is your low coolant light. if you have a 6 cyl 3100 be careful. this car is known for intake manifold gasket leaks. when this gasket goes coolant starts to mix in your engine w/ oil. big problems! i have personally fixed close to 60 of these engines for the same problem.

To any reader of this thread. PAY ATTENTION TO RED WARNING LIGHTS! Some yellow or amber ones may mean you can travel on and fix later. The icon in red with an oil can means biz!!!! Pull over and shut down as quick as possible if you see that one. If it's real you won't be driving for long anyway so pick the best spot. You may even save your whole engine to be quick. Same goes for the icon meaning you are overheating which is like a glass thermometer. Turn your heat on full blast and also get to a safe spot as that can destroy your engine also.
