'97 ford escort troubles

'97 ford escort troubles Sign In

so we've had this used 1997 ford escort for a good 7 years. it's always ran decent, no major troubles. other than having to unplug the negative cable when we're not using the car to stop it from running to the battery down. and the occasional jump-off.

so here's the problem. everytime we connect the negative cable, the horn blows continuously until we take the cable back off. ive taken the horn fuse out of the under-the-dash fuse-box, but i'd rather not ride around without a horn.

please, if anyone knows anything, reply.

two things come to mind

some sort of anti-theft device on the vehicle.

horn switch is sticking

well, it never has had an alarm. and the horn switch, what should i do if it's sticking?
