97 Wrangler stalling Sign In

1997 Jeep Wrangler 4 cylinder automatic. Starts fine, idles in park and neutral, but will not idle in drive or reverse. When shifted into drive or reverse, I can drive with it, but if I come to a stop light, it will stall so i have to put it in nuetral and shift back to drive when i want to move again. All fluids are at the correct level. Air filter is clean. Does anyone have any idea where to start?

Re: 97 Wrangler stalling Sign In

it seems it might be a vaccuum line leak. check the vaccuum hoses for any cracks of hoses that fell off. the initial load of the transmission bogs down the engine and with a vaccuum leak it cant compensate for it
