I'm currently removing the block head from a 1997 Ford Escort 2.0L SOHC SPI engine. How do I remove the oil level indicator tube. There's one bolt holding it to the intake manifold. Is there a bolt holding it to the lower block? It's difficult to see and I don't feel any bolts. Or does it just pop out?
Thanks.

Yes in theory after the one bolt is removed the tube should just pull out.
That being said and considering that the tube lives in a corrosion free environment; (NOT) the tube seizes in the block.
Don’t be too aggressive trying to get the tube out, it’s not all that strong and will twist off where it enters the block. If this happens then you’re likely into removing the oil pan to drive the remaining part of the tube out from the inside.
If all else fails try fishing the cylinder head off with the tube in place, even if it means bending the tube’s retaining bracket, so it’ll fit through whatever little opening you have.

Thanks Dan. It doesn't move at all at the block.
I'll follow your suggestion and bend the bracket.
Thanks.
