97 Dodge Caravan Sputters and Stalls?

I push on the gas when it sputters and the car slows down. Like Im pushing the break instead. It lasts for around 5 seconds, occasionally it will go on for like 10 seconds, and that's usually when it stalls.
I'll be driving anywhere from 35-60mph when this happens, it could be lower and higher but I don't range out of that often. It seems to happen whenever it feels like it, there is nothing consistent that I find. It sometimes happens once a day, sometimes, more then once.
The check engine light doesn't come on.
The thing runs fine besides this little problem, when it stalls out it generally will continue this sputtering stuff for a few turns of the ignition till it stops stalling, and starts running again like nothing happened.
It's got 180k and it eats oil. The sparks are ok, filters new.
Anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong?
