Hi the Integra i have runs great 160K miles, no problems except it burns 1Qt oil every 1500 miles and spent $1000's the A/C but it keeps leaking or seizing. I have eczema and can't just 'roll down the windows' when its humid outside, so I'm considering just using a 1000W inverter to power a 500W AC from the trunk. Does anyone think it's reasonable to keep this car going another 40K miles without major maintenance? If it seems like an OKAY idea i'm thinking of going ahead with the simple $200 window AC unit installation rather than getting a whole new car. Everything gets stolen down here and the ghettoer my car the better protected I am!

First off ---- 500w A/C won't work so save that money. 1,500w can only make about 5,000 BTUs and even that wouldn't do.

Why can't the leak be found and fixed? When you say seizing - do you mean the compressor locks up? That could cost some bucks as more items would need to be replaced that just that.

It's always going to be your call as to fix or trade for another car. I'd get some quotes on the A/C so you know what that will really cost, T
