Hello everyone! Here is my vehicle info: 96 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 2.4L Approx 220,000 miles A couple of weeks ago, sometimes when starting you could hear the starter spinning but it wouldn't engage the flywheel sometimes when attempting to start the car. I'd say about once every 3-4 times or so. If you would wait 5-10 minutes, it had a good chance of starting properly. I (actually a friend who know a lot more about cars that I do and I) removed the starter and replaced the solenoid. I also had it tested while I had it out by two different places and it tested as working. (I wasn't confident the first guy knew what he was doing so I wanted to double check!) My friend who helped me actually put it back in for me while I was working and now the car will not start at all. It does absolutely nothing. Ok, that's not entirely true because dashboard lights come on, but that's it. It doesn't try to start at all. No cranking, no sound from the starter, no nothing. Is it possible something else was unplugged or otherwise disabled while we were replacing the starter? I've looked all around and I can't find anything that looks out of place and I'm not sure what we could have messed up that would cause this. If it wasn't for all the electrical working, I'd think it was the battery, but everything electrical seems to work. The starter was a @#%@ to get to and remove and I felt like we practically took the car apart trying to get it out, so that's why I think something might be unplugged or removed accidentally. I'm completely baffled by this. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!! Rick

If this was the original starter I would have replaced it with a new one. I'm not big on reman components. But have him recheck his work. Have the batery recharged and tested. Check the cranking fuse and relay. Check the wiring. Maybe a ring terminal broke off a wire or somethin. HTH

I'd go back and check the wiring at the starter. I'm betting he wired it wrong. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

The purple wire needs to be on the terminal marked "S" and all the others go to the main post.
