96 Altime random no-start, starts after pushing few inches Sign In

I have a 96 Nissan Altima which runs great. Since last couple of weeks (weather has been pretty hot) it sometimes won't start. Battery is good. When I turn the key, I don't hear any sound (all the lights come on though, and windows, radio works). If I turn off the engine, put the car in R or N and then move it forward or back a few inches (or sometimes just jumping in my seat works too!) it starts right up.
Any ideas?

You may be dealing with a neutral safety switch or if standard shift the switch that indicates the clutch is depressed down. Perhaps (doubt this) this car would make you choose reverse if standard shift.

Whatever, with zero noise when attempted the trigger wire at starter isn't getting triggered with power and could be right there or anywhere along the way that would normally prohibit starter from engaging.

If it had poor connections at battery cables lights and things might work but not the starter but usually would make some noise or other symptoms,

Try tapping on the starter while someone holds the ignition in the start position.
