I have it completly loose but it wont clear the studs because the body is in the way and the studs are to long to take out. Has anyone done one of these and know what the trick is? The pulley will remain loose on the hub because there is insufficient room between the inner fender and the water pump, restricting removal from the vehicle. Remove the water pump-to-engine retaining bolts, then lift the water pump and pulley assembly out of the vehicle. I cheated and copied that! It can take two wrenches and tricks to remove pulley bolts from the pump - sometimes putting the belt back on will hold it tight enough to remove or loosen enough to get them out. The 4 bolts came out but in addition to that there are 4 studs and the pump wont clear the studs when lifting it out. Dont break off studs at all costs! I may be confused as to where you are stuck and would have thought the pump used bolts into timing cover but if it's studs so be it. If they must be trashed to get them out still dont break them off and keep them to match up as they could be different thread at opposite ends. Those are stock type for fan clutches not used in this engine. Possibly 5/16 course one end and fine the other - not sure........
