95 lincoln conti ride control Q? Sign In

Make/model: lincoln continental
year: 1995
4.6
V8

OK quick question for the experts here, i got my lincoln from a guy who had put rims on the car, because of the ride control the fenders were rubbing so he had the ride control censor disabled. so no i have the car and no rims how do i re enable the ride control censor. p.s. i know that you can disable the air ride with a switch in the trunk but that is on

Usually you would just turn the switch in the trunk off to disable it.. he may have pulled the fuse or disconnected the pump or he may have put in a spring system.

Check under the rear see if it has air bags or springs.
make sure switch is on.
Check fuse U(30A) in engine bay fuse block.

There is a good chance the motor might be seized if it hasn't been used in several years.

What happends when you turn the air ride on?? does the car sink or rise too high?? the rod may have come off on the level sensor.

Nothing the pump just runs when u turn on the air ride switch onlu for like 30sec and it kicks on randomly, like the leveling censor is just not telling the pump when to run

That means there is code(s) being stored in the level control module. You need a high end scan tool that can access the module to retrieve codes to find out why the system is being inhibited.

Did you get under the car and look at the leveling sensor on the control arm to make sure it was hooked up correctly like Z suggested?

I was just wondering if he didn't disconnect the sensor arm and put it in a position where the level ride would keep the car at the highest position possible due the large rims. This would set a code because the system wouldn't notice any level change while it was trying to control it....

Yes all you can do is check your connections.. if they look ok you'll have to get codes pulled to lead you in a direction.
