plan on changing both lower ball joints on a 95 blazer is it as hard as the haynes book makes it out to be

Yea. Takes some strong tools and you will need an alignment. Some shops that specialize in alignments can be very reasonable to do that and align it all at once and would have great equipment. Factor the costs of doing it yourself vs a shop that does this all the time,
