Hi . I have a 95 honda accord. I had someone to look at my a/c for me. He said he would recharge it with freon. He told me to fix the a/c i needed a new fan. As i was about to leave i then noticed the car would not shift out of park which has never happened before. He then put something inside the shift lock thing next to the gear shift. I then noticed that i had to do this everytime i tried to shift out of park. As i was going home i realized where the car tells me what gear it is in. The indicater was in the drive gear but it was blinking instead of just staying there. Soon as i continued drving the check engine light came on and soon i realized the spedometer was not working. All this has never happened. Does anybody have a ny suggestions please help me. LOL. Once I am driving should I take the thing out of the shift lock thing. Thanks guys

(it's a 1995 Honda Accord Lxi, high miles - other post deleted)

Hi,

With all these things at once it sure suggests one common problem. Question now is does the A/C work after the work on it? If something was jumped to force it to take in refrgerant it might have blown something but A/C would be disabled also I would think.

None-the-less, check all the fuses underhood and in car. Bet your brake lights don't work either and you don't know that yet. Test for voltage(test light) at fuses not just by looks. Both sides of a fuse should light up when the item(s) it's protecting is enabled by ignition position when the items should work,

T

Never mind for now whether A/C works or not but it's part of what happened here. To boost up the gas in A/C you can jumper wire certain things in certain ways to do that. If something got good and shorted in doing or trying to do that it will help to know what was done.

Still need you to check all the fuses. Go to the battery and follow pos cable and look for burned wire that may branch off of the largest cable. I'm lost to guessing what this person did wrong apparently to cause all this at once as you said this happened right away.

There is a chance (not sure for every vehicle ever made) that mistakingly jumping a high pressure multi wire switch for A/C can blow a body control module (computer) and might have happened. Perhaps a code reading will tell and that's needed now anyway with the light on - that could be why. I think a code reading will tell you if it can't give info - and now that's good info with what happened....
