95 Corolla cold start problem	Sign In

This is my first car and in the mornings when I start it, it's fine and starts quickly. But in the afternoon when its had 6 or 7 hours to cool or the first time it's being started is in the afternoon, it takes awhile to start and I have to pump the gas pedal. It only does this when it has not been running for a while, like if I stop to get gas for 5 minutes, then of course it'll start up quick. So far I've changed the spark plugs and the spark plug wires cause I noticed those were going bad, it also has a new air filter and a relatively new engine with only about 50k on it. Going to the mechanic is out of the question right now so I'll be doing any and all fixes myself so if you have a solution please be detailed haha. But I would really like to get this fixed soon, I leave for college in the next 2 weeks and I have a long drive so I want my car running well. Thank you!

And it's the base model, 1.6L

Hard to say, could be many things.. I would gusse possibly a injector leaking down ,leak in the gasline somewhere or draining back to the tank.

Pumping the accelerator pedal on a fuel injected engine? Computer must be going bonkers sending asynchronous pulses to the injectors and going in and out of clear flood mode while your cranking on the engine.

Looks like you need to connect up a fuel pressure gauge and check for leak down or bleed off after the pump is turned off.
