I don't know of a rev limiter that you would notice if any. It might just be rear differentials gear ratio that you notice most??

the reason i was asking about a rev limiter is because at high rpms the motor starts sounding like it hit a limiter could this be a "running out of fuel problem do to the .030 over pistons??

Good question. I would think fuel pump could keep up and if there was a volume/pressure issue it would be noticed at heavy load on engine more than RPMs.

If you really feel it's like starving for fuel then I guess you'd have to rig up a pressure tester so you could see it fall below specs when this happens??

Chad; Take a manifold vacuum reading at idle and another at 2500 rpm and report back.

I'm probably not the best person to answer this question but that's never stopped me before.....soooooooooo no sense breakin tradition now........

I see where you've down a bunch of work to the motor but looks like you are still running factory fuel strategies on the fuel system (unless I missed something in your post). To get the performance to match the work you've done you're probably going to need to get a custom chip for the PCM.

This would be the same as doing all the work you've done and then throwing the ole 2 barrel back on it...........

I'm assuming you don't have to go thru smog where you live....cuz if you get it running the way you want....... you won't be going thru smog...Tongue

thanks tom i will see if i can set a fuel pressure reading for you

i will get a vac. reading today on it loran.

sidom the box that the cam came in said that it MAY require a chip i was just trying to narrow down other options before i drop a boat load of money on a custom chip but what about bigger injectors like say from a 460 or similar. do they run the same fuel pressures? are the injectors bigger? if the pressure is the same how does a 460 get more fuel?

thanks

With the modified cam you may need to check valve pushrod length. A hair to long or short will affect performance

Re: 94 f150 questions advice Sign In

okay i did not get a vac reading on the motor today sorry i got busy however i did run the truck fairly hard today to the polint of the motor making the sound of what i thought was a rev limiter well when i hit that point i uesd to let off today i kept my foot in it and it jercked a few times and then felt like the motor just quit till i let off the pedal then it came right back unsure what the rpms were i dont have a tac but they were way above travel speed if i had to guess somewhere around 3500 to 4000 so would i be corect in maybe assuming this thing doesnt get enough fuel at high rpms i think i had a gm product that did simalir things one time and as far as the push rods the whole thing was a kit cam and all
