1994 JeeP Grand Cherokee, 6cyl., 4x4, 165K mi.
Fuel pump has gone out I think. Just driving down road and car dies... Sometimes it will start again right away, other times it has to sit for a few hours. It isn't even really hot when it does this. I replaced the temperature contol valve but no help... My question is this: Can I replace only the fuel pump, or to fix my problem of the car shutting down, must I replace the entire fuel pump assembly???

I wouldn't just assume the pump is bad, especially on a Chrysler. You need to test the fuel pressure and then if you have none, then you need to test for power and ground arriving at the pump during the first 2 seconds of "key on"

As far as what you have to change, that is totally determined by how the part is made and sold. Some are modules and some are just pumps.
