My truck was running fine. The overflow had been empty but it wasn't overheating. I put some coolant in it and a few miles up the road it overheated, started making a loud clicking sound and stopped working and wouldn't start.

The next day I got it started, but as soon as it started the coolant in the overflow started bubbling.... Instantly. I think what happened is some gunk from the bottom of the coolant container clogged something up. Does this makes sense? What can I do to take care of the problem?

sounds like from the over heating you could have warped something causing the head gasket to fail. the escaping compression pushes the coolant into the overflow. the bubbles are prolly just air bubbles
