1994
Chevy Truck
C1500
150,000/miles

Okay I just replaced my air compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube, evacuated and charged the system. When I was charging I started hearing a screeching sound as soon as the compressor kicked on. So after it was done charging took it for a drive and it would screech more when turning. So I figured it was just the serpentine belt. I went and got one today put it on started it up turned on the a/c and it was screeching still. I go look at it and I see the belt jumping on the compressor. I figured i Didn't have it lined up right so I killed it and adjusted it. Tried again and same thing. When you turn on the a/c the belt starts screeching and jumping on the compressor. It looks like it's going to come off?

Edit: Put the old belt on and when it screeches it's one of two things. it's either slipping or when the a/c cycles off maybe the pulley stops spinning causing the screech. Could I have got a bad compressor?

You might as well start putting your money away for the next repair because you are fixin to implode the system. You may have replaced a compressor but you never resolved the reason it failed or the damage it did when it failed. The belt is slipping because the compressor is seizing up and it's not because the compressor is defective.

Wrong!! It was slipping because they gave me the wrong belt. The old compressor's body failed and started leaking freon. It never Failed to the point that it came apart. I think I'll find a new site for next time because you seem like a real dick!!

See ya....................

It would take a real idiot to install the wrong belt and not know it.
