DOING THIS AFTER PREVIOUS DRIVER TRIED TO REMOVE DASH TO DEAL WITH BAD SOLENOID.
Oh Gawd!... Anything in the world is possible here. I hate getting into problems someone else who didn't know what they were doing tore up........... You have my sympanthies......
Ok... Just so I'm straight...... key-off--no crank...key-acc--no crank...key-on/run--crank...Key-inbetween on/run & start--no crank....key-start--crank. (does it crank while holding it in the start position all the way?)
1st thing I would do is disconnect the trigger wire off the starter & hook a test light to it... Obviously it's having power to it in the on/run position & will light up with KOEO. (this way you'll save your starter & ring gear) If it doesn't crank in the start position I would problably be looking at the ign sw connector to see if it has been rewired improperly. If it does crank also in the start position I would leave the test light hooked up in the on/run position & start looking for a pinched wiring harness. Put the light were you can see it or have a helper look at it & start wiggling harness & see if you can get the light to go out or even flicker....
If you don't have a wiring diagram maybe on the guys here could post one for you....... Look at the trigger circuit & see whats close to it in a common area that could cause this and look there 1st......
