93 EXPLORER SPORT, MANUAL 4.0 LITER. STARTER CONTINUES TO ENGAGE WHEN YOU LET GO OF KEY. WILL START AND RUN FINE IF YOU HOLD KEY SLIGHTLY FORWARD, BUT RELEASE KEY, AND STARTER REENGAGES. HAVE REPLACED STARTER, SOLENOID, BATTERY, IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY LOCK. IS IGNITION HARNESS BAD? DOESN'T LOOK BURNT. RELAY? PLEASE HELP

Sounds like you have a strange problem there.... Almost sounds like a timing issue between the cylinder gears & rack... I would go down to the ign sw & pop the rod out of it & use a screw driver to see if it starts & runs normal when you start it manually that way....If it does, your problem is in the colum & more than likely a gear timing issue

COLUMN ISSUE? COULD IT BE THE ROD? IT GOT CAUGHT OUT OF PLACE WHEN I FIRST CHANGED THE IGNITION SWITCH, AND DIDNT REALIZE THAT IT WASNT LINED UP FOR HALF AN HOUR.

It's possible..... Try to manually start the car like I told you. If it starts & runs normal, the problem is in the colum.... I only have run in to that once.... A buddy was putting in a key switch in a Ford & took too much apart & got the timing off....On that one tho, it wouldn't go to the start position but I suppose you could have your's off the other way..... My memory sux but I do remember it was a PITA until I got the right system down....... Seems to me something about the switch having to be in the start position???? I don't have access to my data base but I'm sure there is a procedure for it, if in fact that is your problem.....

DIDN'T WORK WITH ROD ASSEMBLY REMOVED, STILL WANTS TO START. CAN IT BE THE IGNITION RELAY, OR ONLY POSITIONING OF SWITCH? HAVE TRIED EVERY CONCEIVABLE POSITION OF SWITCH, AND SOMETIMES, IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS JUST A HAIR OFF. SEE 3 OF THESE ON THIS PAGE, GUESS I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS? STARTER STARTED DOING THIS AFTER PREVIOUS DRIVER TRIED TO REMOVE DASH TO DEAL WITH BAD SOLENOID. TRYING TO BACKTRACK, AND SEE WHAT HE MESSED UP
