Sign In Anyone know where I can find a diagram, or directions as to how to repair the tilt steering on a 92 mercury topaz, 3 speed auto? The tilt mechnism will NOT lock into place. The wheel just flops up and down now. Left to right steering is ok, its just that I cannot get it locked into any one position. I have a harmonic balance puller and gear pullers for removing the steering wheel. ( it does not have air bags). Chiltons book that I have does not show the insides of the tilt mechinism. Any help appreacted.. Espically a diagram of this thing.. This poster asked for a specific thing and we responded with what they asked for. If they had wanted a patch job, it is possible they would of asked us for such. We welcome anyone that has knowledge ans is willing to share, but we are not a chop shop. Please continue to use our forum, but, please, try to offer information the poster wants. Sign In Well I too found that diagram over on autozone. but it does not show the tilt steering system.
