92 accord lx plugs and wires Sign In

when I started to change the wire set on my 92 accord I found that the bottom piece to 2 of the boots of the old wires is detachable and did not come off with the wire. I put the 2 wires on that did come out whole. is it ok to use 2 new wires and 2 old wires for a few days? and are there kits or something that help me get the remaining piece of the boot off so i can get those spark plugs and old wires off? i cannot reach the rubber piece with needle nose pliers...

thanks in advance. you guys are always excellent help

You should be able to just bend a coat hanger in a shape to hook below the ribber and pull it up.

got it. what a pain!

When I removed the old plugs they had a lot of oil on the threads.. oil looked clean enough, but oil none-the-less. my wife's 97 CRV plugs had no oil on them. I wonder what other issues this could be a sign of?

That just means that you valve cover is leaking. There are spark plug tube seals that are part of it. You want to fix that because it will ruin your new wires.

now that you mention it it turns out that I may be the only person who didnt know that...

I tried to add a pic of the cover (it looks good to me?), any chance that I can clean it up and replace the gasket? or is that only part of the problem?

The cover should be fine. It's the gasket that needs to be replaced.
