I have a 92 Pontiac Bonnie. I'm a fair machanic or so I thought. Anyway, about a year ago I started getting spungy brake peddle action. All brake pad's and shoes are in good shape. No leaking wheel cyl's. Got to the point I had to pump the peddle to stop. Got scary! Bought a new Master Cyl. put it on, bled all and all was well again. Six months later it started all over again. Didn't mess with it so, just bought a new Master again. Had trouble getting a good peddle but, after bleeding the rears a couple of times I finally had good brakes back. Well, 3 or so wks. ago it started all over. Haven't bought anything yet but, I've pulled the rear drums to check the shoes and check for cyl. leaks---shoes are good and all is dry. Put all back together and tryed to bleed starting w/right rear. Got nothing out(loosened bleeder along way!). Thought that was strainge so, I went to the left side and that bled good, although got no air after 3 or 4 times. Went back to right rear and finally did get fluid out. Bled that side several times but didn't get very much air out. Didn't help the problem so, went to the front. Pulled both wheels. Pads are good....no leaks. Bled right, then left. No air. Didn't fix the problem.....I'm Stumped!!! HELP Jer

Some thoughts and maybes for this:
Master cylinder bad again - not likely but possible?? Get lifetime warranties with these things.
Is the soft feel all the time or does it fade away like pedal toward the floor and better when re-pumped again?
Is it possible that a flex hose is bulging but not a blow out? That's possible.
Back brakes should be adjusted up as close as you can without them dragging. Set parking brake and hit pedal. It will feel firmer normally. That could be a better position to bleed the backs in.
Always bench bleed a master cylinder. That if the trouble would have showed up right away though.
Some times brake fluid can carbonate like a soft drink holding bubbles like when you see that in a glass bottle and a tap on it gets the bubbles to get up to where they will be bled out.
Just some thoughts of some weird possibilities.
I kind of think this is yet another bad master cylinder or a flex hose that's just bulging too much. That should be unseen it you are looking while someone hits the brakes pretty hard but I think I'd give that a check,
