got my previous problem fixed just to find another one. i just fixed my steering and my car battery had died, so i tried to jump it off... wouldn't charge... replaced the battery. now it won't start. it tries to, but won't. it sounds like a car that has run out of gas, beyond the sputtering point, trying to start, but can't.

What you’re going to have to tell us is whether there’s spark, proper fuel pressure and injector pulse? One of these things is missing or out of time.
There’s likely spark because of the “sputtering” but check for it anyway.
How long has the car sat while repairing the steering and has it been damp and rainy where the car was sitting?
I’m just thinking that if it has sat for awhile, moister may have gotten into the ignition and after a few attempts at starting the engine; it may have become flooded?
Also on the first few attempts at starting the engine with the low/dead battery, may have allowed the computer to dump fuel flooding the engine. Computers will do all kinds of strange things when there’s not enough power in the battery to keep its memory alive.
What you could try after letting the car sit for a few hours. Is to push and hold the throttle to the floor and then try cranking the engine. This will put the computer into what’s called “clear flood mode” and shut down injector pulse.
If by chance the engine does fire, do not let go of the throttle completely but hold it 1/2 to 3/4 until you hear the engine begin to clear and smooth out. Just guessing but worth a try.
