1991
Chevy
Lumina APV (van)
124,000 miles

This vehicle will occassionally die when coming to a stop. No noises or anything, the engine just shuts off. It will restart without a problem, however. Sometimes, after sitting overnight, the vehicle will fail to start, and the battery meter indicates a low charge. However, it will start from a jump.

Replaced battery with new one. Took alternator to Napa to have it tested. Napa says alternator is ok.

The exact same problems continue. What could it be?

You may have a draw pulling your battery down so you'll have to test for that.

As for your stalling, you may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC.

thanks, Hammer Time. I was thinking along those lines about a draw pulling the battery down, but wasn't real sure. NONE of the interior lights work in the vehicle, even on a full charge. Not sure what could be pulling it down, since everything else is turned off, I've double-checked. I know very little about auto electrical systems.

I'll try cleaning the throttle body, but my first priority is fixing the start-up issue. TIA.

And I don't know what you mean, chickenhouse. I'm new to these forums, but your post made no sense.

Your interior lights not working could be a tip off. I suspect this......... Previous owner had problem with lights not shutting off due to bad delay timer so they removed all the bulbs thinking this will solve their problem however it does not because the timer is still operational and remaining on which drains the battery.

I simply meant that while cleaning the throttle body and holding the throttle wide open, have the engine shut off.
