90 lumina euro 3.1 idles then dies when given gas Sign In

[crazy] This car is driving me crazy! I have a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina Euro 3.1L with 113,000 miles on it. I changed out the fuel filter after it left me stranded on the highway. I was doing around 65MPH when it all of the sudden died on us. I would start right back up, lon enough to get turned around and half way back home again. After geting towed back home, and sitting for about an hour, it would start back up again. I changed out the fuel filter the next day, and the old one was quite dirty, and after geting the air out of the lines, it starts and idles beautifuly. The problem though, is when the accelerator is aplied, it wil gain RPM's for a while, then choke and die out, but start right back up again. I tested the fuel pressure, and it is at 42 lbs before ignition, and 38 lbs during idle, and 34 at 4000 rpm, right before it dies out. I checked it four times and al of the results are the same. I have NO diagnostic codes, al I get is code 12, entering ECM diagnostics, over and over again. I checked all of my vacum lines while the car was at idle, and at RPM, and none are collapsing, and no leaks....PLEASE HELP

it is the crank shaft position sensor. located at the back of the engine near the fire wall, couple of bolts to disconnect and one wire conector, you will find a crack in the end of the sensor. this is your problem i have the same vehicle that had the same problem.

Although the crank sensor is possible, I don't think that is the problem here.
Your fuel pressure is too low. 34PSI is unacceptable and will give symptoms just as you describe. It sounds like you have a fuel pump giving out.

Here are the fuel pressure specs.
FUEL PRESSURE:

Ignition ON Engine OFF 40.5 to 47.0 psi
With Regulator Vacuum Applied [1] 3.0 - 10.0 psi Less than Ignition ON Engine OFF
REMARKS:
[1]
May be checked with either of the following methods.
  • With Pressure Regulator Vacuum Line Attached at normal idle speed.
  • Ignition ON Engine OFF with 10 Inches Of Vacuum Applied To The Pressure Regulator.
