89 honda accord, won't start Sign In

Hi there,
my 89 honda accord started this morning and I didn't let it warm up very long. As I drove away from my house the car died as if it had run out of gas. (tank is 3/4 full) Now when trying to start it, it turns over but does not start. Any ideas or advice would be great, I just bought the car Unsure

You have to start with checking fuel pressure, spark at plugs, and injector pulse. Once you know which system(s) are not functioning, then you can start a diagnostic procedure.

I had a geo metro for a few years and i had the fuel pump die on me a bunch of times. Do you frequently drive out your whole tank of gas before refueling? Even if you dont, that was the problem that i had with mine. I would be drivin along and all of a sudden it would start to lose power, after a half a minute or so it would lose enough power that it would just die. It was the fuel pump every time.

My experience from what you've said would lean toward a timing belt. You say it turns over but won't start, but does it sound the same as it always has? Does it sound like it has compression on all 4 cylinders? In other words... when it goes rrrr, rrrr, rrrr, while turning over does it sound even or does it go rrrr, rrrr, ... rr, rrrr,...,rrrr.? Does that make any sense? Unfortunately it IS, an interference engine.
