Just ideas for a pill like that and don't recall exactly that one but of some things to try......

* Will it go down and out better than up and out?

* Doubt it for this car, but is there an inner fender that could be removed to help?

* May require taking a motor mount bolt out and tilt engine a tad but don't think I recall that. If so - do that with trans in Neutral, secured by brake and blocks/chocks for wheels. Use wood between any lifting on oil pan!

* Take another hard look if there is something in the way that's practical to remove. I know things are tight but this should TMK come out without wild extremes.

Good luck. Not everything is so easy as you would think!

It's been awhile, but I believe those come out thru the wheel well. You may have to break the lower ball joint loose to swing the axle shaft over enough to get it to clear.

Thx Tom, it does look like down and out and I'll check on the inner fender. Right now I see the alt bracket in the way... gonna try and remove that whenever this stubborn bolt comes loose, it's always that last bolt that gives you a prob!!! Arrrgh!!! And I hope that I don't have to tilt the engine, it doesn't look that way as of yet. I'll let you know the results tomorrow, I am beat.... This is turning out to be a nightmare!!!! As you warned me!!!!

Thanks for jumping in Steve! I simply don't know the older Hondas like some other cars. Hang in there videomann! - you'll get it. Just don't get mad as the car doesn't care about your frustrations. We'll get you thru this somehow. Trust me - we who do this have dealt with stuff that causes bad language and tools to become projectiles, LOL!

When it's done you'll wonder (I still doCrazy) why anyone would do this crap for a living! If more tools are needed than you have know they can usually be rented - even free at AutoZone and maybe others with full deposit,

Lots of different ways to get there.

Personally I just pop out the 1/2 shaft. It's quick & easy and saves a lot of fighting.................

Good morning all... I first want to say thanx for the replies, but it is looking like the shaft is gonna have to be removed and that is a little out of my league. Under the hood of this car is just chaos and backwards!!! Never had an alt prob like this... I have to call in the veteran reinforcements!!! YIKES!!!Pirate

Some of those alts can be fun Mad.......You should try a Focus, the engine has to be lifted.........

It you feel this is a little out of your range then it might not be a bad idea getting a little help. From what you've posted it sounds like you could tackle this one. It's honestly not that hard, 2 bolts, 2 nuts & couple blows from a hammer and you're there. You could even try just pushing the axle to the side if you didn't want to pop it out of the trans.......

But then again, if you got a buddy to help ya out......do it it half the time, grab some beers & watch the games............Wink
