89 Cutlass Ciera Brake lights out/burning fuses

Hi,

First time poster.
Brake lights are out. We changed the switch behind the brake pedal...didn't work. Changed the fuse and it worked for about 3 seconds, then fried the fuse. Every time we put a new fuse in and step on the brake pedal, the fuse pops immediately. HELP! (And thanks)!
