replaced engine in 88 ford bronco a month ago, got in one day and it wouldnt stop starting. replaced starter, solenoid, ignition switch (on steering colum) and ignition switch (key switch) and now the truck wont start at all. had battery and new started tested and both are good... not sure where to go from here

Is it a standard trans or automatic?

automatic...and a little more info...after changing the starter and ignition switch in the steering colum when i tried to hook up the battery as soon as i touched the negative cable to the battery it would try and start, even without the key but never turned over, that's when i replaced the solenoid and the key switch- i ended up taking off the steering wheel and taking the whole housing piece off the colum because i could not get the switch out... put it back together i can hear a click when i try to start it, but i get nothing

Have you tried jumping it right at the solenoid by applying power to the small "S" terminal?

no and to be honest i'm not sure how to do that. this is the first project of this kind by myself, can you explain or can i look it up some where

This is going to take some technical ability and equipment to troubleshoot this. You may need to enlist some help.
Follow the positive battery cable and it goes to the solenoid.

mmkinard; I've only run into it a few times over MANY years, but a weak battery can cause this to happen if it doesn't have enough juice to pull the starter drive back when you release the key. Or, it the starter drive gear is already engaged with the flywheel. A battery can be fully charged (13.2V), but still have no amperage capabilities.
