A now separated part of that clip is probably sill in a hole in the metal handle. The bent end of the rod won't stay in the hole without the clip. The part would be right or left handed and most used ones will break trying to get them out intact. Bet they aren't available thru Ford so maybe some craftwork with hardware store stuff would do for now. If you really want this exactly right or can't find this part it is available at Baker's Auto in Putnam, CT email is sales@bakersauto.com or call 860-928-7614 website probably won't help but is www.bakersauto.com This is the biggest Lincoln only new and used parts for 60s thru 2002 in the world....PERIOD!!
