85 camaro won't start	Sign In

i bought an 85 Chevy Camaro last week, test drove it, started it and turned it off a few times. then the day i bought it it wouldn't start for me. i tried jumping it with two different cars, two different sets of jumper cables, and a jumper pack. I also tried replacing the battery so i know this is not the problem because it still wouldn't start after all of that. tends to start ok in the morning though. any help?

Guest; Starters are at their worst when hot. Also, if the timing is overadvanced, will cause a 'dragging' sensation when trying to start when hot. If this is a V8, disconnect the power feed to the distributor and see if it cranks over 'normally'. If it does, then it's a timing issue. If no change, then battery, connections, or starter would be where to look next.
With that said, if the cranking isn't the issue....as it cranks over, just won't start, then need to know if this is carbureted or fuel injected.

when i turn the key absolutely nothing happens and its a 350 with fuel injection

Guest; Okay, let me get this straight. When it's cold, everything is good in the world. You hit the key, it starts?
When it's hot, nothing happens when you hit the key? No click? You'll need a skinny friend to lightly tap on the starter while you turn the key. (not much ground clearance on those rigs) If it starts then, the starter is the problem.
