I have a 84 mustang V6 with 35,000 miles for some reason the fuel pump wont get any power to it. I have hooked the first fuel pump (the one under the frame of the car) to the battary directly and it worked. so then i dropped the gas tank and hooked the soecond one (the one in the gas tank) to the battary directly and that one worked to. So then i thought that it might just be the shut off switch in the trunk but it wasnt that. So then i found the relay to the fuel pumps under the drivers seat. i took it off and bought a new one and put it on. Still nothing. So then i bought a volt/ohms meter and a test light. I put the test light to the yellow wire witch is the one that goes to the fuse and it got power. Then i put the test light on the pink and black wire witch is the one that goes to the fuel pump and it wont get any power. Then i put the test light to the other two wires on the fuel pump relay (i cant remember what collor they are) and it made a really anoying buzz coming from behind the passengers side dash. So i took the glove box off and i could see another relay. I took the other relay off and replaced it with a new one. It still wont get any power to the fuel pump.I dont know what the problem could be. Is it a ground wire maybe??? If it is what collor is the ground wire??? Some one please help!!!!!! oh and please dont post any wire diagrams. I dont understand them.

I hope you realize that the pump only receive power for the first 2 seconds when the key is turned on and then shuts off.............

If you don't understand wiring diagrams, you really shouldn't be attempting this.

If you can't read a wiring diagram, then you can't troubleshoot the problem. You haven't even tested for power and your looking for grounds.

You can't spell so you should send this job out! "collar" - what does that mean unless the car is a dog?

That's my point. If you were qualified to attempt this you would already know all Ford grounds are black.

The inertia switches have a fairly common failure rate. Make sure that you have voltage in and out of the switch. If you 'smack' it hard with your hand, it should 'trip'. Then, reset it. If your friend is a mechanic, he should be able to trace where you are losing power or ground if it is not the inertia switch or relay. Also, don't want to sound mean, but if you look to lower part of the screen, on the right, there is a spell check. This may help in trying to communicate your meaning.
