Hi, I hit a high curb yesterday and it has damaged my alloy which is annoying, but I am more concerned as it has also damaged the tyre which is only a few weeks old This happened to me some years back and a garage said I should be OK. I am not sure what to look out for and or whether I will be OK in this situation so if anyone can advise it would be much appreciated. My thanks, Jamie

That tire is junk but wheel might be fixable. Search out wheel repair or know exact pattern and see if a known good used is available. They don't give alloy wheels away new or used anywhere I know of. Could be hidden damage to wheel so I would drive that one anymore till known, T

From the pic it looks like the rim just got a little scuff and is fine. It can be sanded and buffed out if the looks of the rim are important to you. That tire needs to go as Tom said. It is heavily gouged on the sidewall near the bead, and although it may hold air now and if it has a lot of tread you would be tempted to use it you shouldn't. The location of the damage is in such a place that when this fails you will have no warning and the tire will basically explode its air out fast while driving. That will destroy this rim and could cause an accident. Put on your spare until you get the tire replaced on that rim.
