2009 Honda will not start. Sign In

My Honda has been sitting in my garage for last week. The car is almost a new car with just 9k miles and 2009 model Accord LX-P. Its been freezing outside but garage is bit better. Today morning the car will not start. The music system plays fine and battery seems to be working ok. I tried cranking several times and can hear a CLICKING side. It keeps trying but no sign of starting. I had couple of questions:

1) Will Honda pay for the towing since I am still under 3 yr bumper to bumper coverage

2) Will a jump start fix this problem ? Since battery seems ok i am not sure if jump start will fix it

3) Is there anything else that I can try just to get the car fired up so i can take it to the dealer.

4) If i get my car towed to dealer could it get potentially damaged via a tow truck. I have never got any car towed before and am a bit of a novice when it comes to towing.

Would really appreciate the responses to help me out.

Regards to all

If you are unsure on how to properly jump start the vehicle call someone who is. You are under the warranty period but there are somethings that aren't covered, brks, belts, maintenance items, BATTERY.

So you want to make sure the battery is good before towing it to the dealer or you will be on the hook (no pun intended) for the bill.

It's a little early for a bad battery but not unheard of. Start off with either jumping or charging the battery, charging would be best. If that doesn't work then the battery would have to be tested. On Hondas, if the battery is remove with out a memory saver the radio locks ( you need the code), & the power windows lose the auto function (easily fixed).

So in a nutshell, see if jumping/charging will start it. If you have the code for the radio, pull the battery and have it tested. After that give Honda a call, just tell them the problem and what you've done so far and let them make a decision....

Thanks a lot for the quick reply.
How do i determine if my battery is bad. Currently the music system runs fine. Also the power windows are rworking. When I trun the key on I can see the fuel gauge needle running to display a full tank.

However when I try and start the car, I am not observing any cranking. I am hearing a continuous clicking sound...Like Click Click Click... etc.

Should I still try the jump start first before calling the dealer ?

Yes the vehicle needs to be safely jumped or charged 1st.
If it starts I would have the charging system/battery checked out.

Unless you had left a light on or found a reason for the battery being dead....

Thx a lot. Jump start fixed the problem.

I also got the car serviced yesterday (scheduled) and battery is in good condition. Basically i did not start my car for 10 plus days and it was like 0 degrees outside at Chicago. though my car has been in the garage it just did would not start. Probly thats why this happened.
