Hi all,
With the current record breaking cold temperature in NYC, my 2008 Mercedes E350 4matic with 90k miles will not start. The keys turns with no engine light, it cranks but it won't start. When I say cranks, the car starter is trying to ignite but doesn't have the choking movement as if there is no fuel to cause the combustion. I am no mechanic but suspecting a frozen fuel line but does not know how to test fuel pressure, my question is if it is indeed a frozen fuel line or bad fuel pump, doesn't the engine light will come on and give me a code? If it isn't the fuel line, what else can it be since again there isn't any engine light? BTW, how often should I replace fuel pump anyway? Please help, thanks.Smile

Understand the cold as I'm a couple hundred miles North of you and its looks like a heat wave where you are in comparison. It's cold, we get that. It's also a time when weak batteries and assorted problems will show up.

Not so sure YOU are so sure engine is really cranking or just making noise of some sort. #1 is have you set or even possibly set any antitheft feature?

Benz and some others are their own bird sometimes. If you aren't on their exact schedule and know the folks at the dealer by name you shouldn't own one IMO.

Try unlocking any antitheft and then try again to start it with the known correct key or fob for this. If wrong or battery even had a moment of a disconnect over night it almost certainly will think it's being stolen.

Not a ton of help for you as these cars do their things their way only many times only with their own parts including the battery which I would think would have warned you earlier (a maybe) that it was time to replace it,

T
