I have a 2007 Camry. Recently my car's battery died twice and I had to jumpstart it without knowing why it died (I didn't have lights on or anything like that). Then one time I noticed as I got in the car (while the engine is off) that the A/C fan was on (not the air conditioning but just the fan blowing). I suspect that this killed the battery. Does anyone have the same problem?? What exactly is the problem and how can I fix it?
Also, I brought it to the Toyota dealer today and they did an electronic check up but couldn't find anything wrong. But they said the battery is weak and wanted to replace the battery. Well I know why the battery is weak, it's probably b/c the fan drains out the battery!! I refused to let them replace the battery since my cousin can help me do that with free labor. :D I was really pissed that they couldn't tell me what was wrong with the car, and charged me almost 65 bucks just to check it.

Is this to say you took it in to get this checked out, blower stayed on with the car off and you were told nothing was wrong?
There's probably a stuck blower relay. With the repeated battery drain you probably will need a new battery but that isn't keeping the blower running,

Hi Tom,
Since it happens intermittently, they couldn't reproduce the problem.
Like I said there was only one time when I got in the car and the blower was on before I even put my keys into the ignition.
Ok, this morning it happened again!! The fan was on when I got into the car, I don't know how long its been on but the battery didn't die this time.
How can I fix the problem??

Just noticed this is a 2007! Any warranty on this? Couldn't find a part which is my own trick to guess how it's wired as it's too new still.
A relay may have constant power available to empower the blower motor but needs a input from you both having ignition on and requesting the blower for whatever and whatever speed. It's just a maybe that a relay could just stick and continue to provide power when it should have shut down. Most are little contacts with points that a small input from like the control head would enable the relay to further direct power to the blower motor. If somehow the little contact points didn't retract all the way it could still have power to it and perhaps allow power on to the blower.
I just don't have a clue how this system is wired but that is a way for higher power consuming items to operate.
It's just a guess IMO higher on the possibility list. Ex: I've absolutely found a relay for a different vehicle completely (no matter) that would mysteriously enable PDL system that also turned on interior lights - find car stone dead and upon jump start, nothing was left on and it has reset showing no problem, that vehicle did have some strange issues with its PDL intermittently and things would test out but just out of the blue I tossed its relay and the problem has not recurred.
Understood that when you bring it to be checked out and all is working that every part of the system would test out fine also so what item have a history of being able to do what has happened to you and the relay comes to mind.
This could be much more complicated than that but if a relay has power in wait (don't know for this) ((door locks do)) then it's a cheaper thing to try when an intermittent problem exists.
Some crazy things like that may work fine for cold weather and not for hot weather or something??
Again - even a new or newer battery will suffer from being drained down too low too often - that's not the up front problem but very well could be a problem sooner - battery alone is not making the blower come on or stay on now though,

In this picture you can see a copper winding which makes a magnetic force to move contact points from one spade outlet to another. Input will pull against the spring shown on top which normally defaults to a home position when not triggered but could be part stuck and even when taken apart like this one might behave?? This is a simple ONE action relay - some make two different moves or more in multi pin relays,

I am now experiencing this very same issue. I have noticed that my fan comes on while in the off position and usually while accelerating. A few days later my battery is dead. The dealership cannot figure out why this is happening. So far it has happened for 3 conservative weeks. Is it the relay for the blower?
