2006 Scion XB Automatic, 4 cylinder 71,000 miles I have an automatic 2006 Scion XB with 71,000 miles and yesterday it started making an unbearably loud noise on the left side (drivers side), which I believe is coming from the rear of the car. I kept checking to see if there was a motorcycle driving next to me because that’s exactly what it sounded like. When I slowed below 60 MPH the noise would subside but 60 MPH seemed to be the magic number because anything above that triggered the sound. The car did not feel like it was shaking when I exceeded 60. 5 days ago I took my car to get an oil change and have the transmission fluid flushed and new break pads put in along with other regular maintenance such as tire rotation and new air filter. I called the mechanic yesterday and he said to bring the car back in today. Exactly 1 year ago I had to replace the right side rear wheel bearing after I heard a very loud humming noise. I keep thinking that maybe this could be the same problem except in that situation, it was a definite humming and this time it sounds like a motorcycle. Does this sound like it could be a wheel bearing problem? Or perhaps something to do with the exhaust?

well im assuming since you say it sounds like a motorcycle, your talking about a motorcycle's exhaust note. so yes the first culprit will be the exhaust system. you could be noticing it more at 60 mph because of the sound harmonics. __________________________________________________ 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2002 Ford Ranger 2004 Toyota Corolla 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1
