When I turn hard left or right forward or backward it feels like the break is compressed. I press the gas and the tire skips. It has been going on for a week. I see no visible issues with ball joints or wheel bearing

? It's OK but why are you in "Auto Body Repair" with that issue? No matter.

Best to say what model and if choices which ones for 4X4? I'm asking because some sold had the choice of locking 4X4 so front wheels don't differentiate if you will feels on a non-slippery surface if moving and turning is "crabbing" is normal if this locks? Choose another 4X4 option now low gear should have the choice of auto 4X4 if it senses slipping only.

Read owner's manual or find one on line what the choices do I think you are either in the wrong one or it's stuck there in wrong choice.

Are any lights lit on dash with an icon lit now? Defaults for I think all of these is the funky traction control or OD (0verdrive) does light up I think a button on shifter.

Need to know what it is and features might not be a problem??

Go check if what I said makes any sense to you, find the owner's manual they all came with paper ones TMK,

Tom

It has the 4x4 option. I have only used it once in the 3 years I have had it. I will look into that. When driving straight it is all good only when I do a sharp turn

Laugh - Same here got a "Jeep Liberty" 2007 only used 4X4 once wasn't expecting that crabbing have another for me PLOWING SNOW that locked feature works best is UNDRIVABLE on dry road, hard if just wet road!

Check if your lever or buttons if electrically changed is working at all?

I haven't checked again on probably same idea is for that a lever like for many parking brakes - read which one if any confusion possible?

If it works if changed the clue is that crabbing slow full sharp turns will alter feel a lot.

Other test is KEY TO JUST RUN WITHOUT RUNNING ENGINE. That should show all the things that light up in view on dash as a bulb check ignore it's seeing if they all work.

Now see if lever changes or mine a button on shifter is locking trans so it can do overdrive or not says it's OFF. That defaults if you just shut off thing and start up again doesn't stay where you chose is electrically changing mode.

REAL 4X4 should stay and if LOW is chosen top speed is maybe 25 MPH? I forgot on the thing wouldn't push that or blow the thing up.

It's possible I guess for something to hit all that mess of unseen gearcases one shaft goes forward Jeeps still are RWD, engine points front (any models I think) vs FWD and adding rear for other whole type vehicles.

Either 99% of the time nobody needs 4X4 in fact will screw you up if wrong mode and forgot. I think that's it.

If broken physically it will not do tricks or change what you feel so move on it's a drivetrain issue to fix.

I'm watching go play with the thing see if on purpose things work if not slippery some indication it's in wait for you.

Good luck for nothing wrong on the chance list for you,

Tom
